How the Heck Did THAT Happen?

My overdue post was all written, and I was ready to pop a picture into place and click Publish. Something awful happened, the stuff of which nightmares are made. Blogger burped. That event had cosmic consequences. The cursor flew down to a graphic near the end. Then Blogger burped again.

POOF!

No more post. Nada. Blank white space, as pure as new-fallen snow appeared in the Compose window.

Awe...that's too bad. I always enjoy what you have to say.

Lordy, the ether was in chaos last night! The post you see was nowhere near complete and if I clicked to publish, I must have had my eyes closed. Now I know that posts stay there while I'm editing...

I've had something similar happen before, however, I was able to retrieve the 'lost' post through Edit Posts. You see, Blogger has a neat, little feature where it auto-saves your post at intervals as you write it...have you gone to Design/Layout > Posting tab > Edit Posts link to see if the missing post is in there?? If you see it, just click on the Edit Post link beside it and voila!...your post is back! Good luck ~ :)

Thanks for the suggestion Serena. I did know about that, and instantly backed out hoping to do that. BUT ... Blogger saves every five seconds or so. It had already saved the void.

Let this be a reminder to everyone to keep your work backed up. This was a little thing. How awful it would be to lose a whole disk full of past work.

I meant to add that, if you manage to retrieve your 'lost' post via the path mentioned in my previous comment, it will open in the Compose view so all you need do is finish editing it as you wish, then hit Publish.

OH rats! That's too bad...yes, it's definitely a good idea to do our own Copying onto Clipboard as we go if we are writing in-depth posts.

I feel for you! After this happened to me I started to cut and paste ad save all my posts in a file.

My sympathy. When that happens to me, it usually has something to do with a cat.
